Chokeberry jam for the winter
Description of preparation:
To make jam, it is best to take rowan berries at the end of autumn, when they are well ripe. If the berries are very hard, pour boiling water over them for 2-3 minutes. For a more interesting taste, you can add lemon or orange zest.
Prepare all the necessary ingredients for making chokeberry jam for the winter.
Remove the berries from the branches, sort, rinse and let the water drain completely. Place the berries in a thick-bottomed saucepan and add water. Beat everything well with a blender until smooth.
Add sugar to the rowan puree and stir.
Place the pan with the rowan berries and sugar over medium heat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, skimming, for 40-50 minutes, until desired thickness. 40 minutes was enough for me. Place the finished jam in dry, sterilized jars and let cool completely, covering with a clean cloth. Once completely cooled, close tightly and store.
Happy preparations!
