You will learn about one of the most proven and working methods that will make your home warmer and, accordingly, more comfortable. Air locks often occur due to improper installation of batteries. However, this problem can also arise with an ideal system. Find out how to fix this in the article below.
How to detect an air lock in the battery
For some, the heating season is already in full swing, while others haven’t even thought about turning on the heating. In both cases, it is necessary to take care of the heat in your own home in advance, because winter is just around the corner. How do you know if there is an air lock in the battery? The issue is difficult, but solvable.
So, if your panel radiator has a different temperature between the top and bottom, then there is an air lock. It needs to be released from the battery as quickly as possible. In cast iron radiators, an air lock causes one part of the section to be warm and the other cold. In some cases, the radiator may be cold all the time. A characteristic gurgling sound also indicates the presence of excess air inside the radiator.
How to properly bleed air from a battery
First, remove or move the carpet (if there is one) from the floor. After this, place disposable diapers or a regular dry cloth under the radiator. Place a small container or one cut in half under the ventilation hole. plastic bottle. Then carefully open the top radiator vent to release any trapped air. The output is quite audible, and if it stops, you need tocover the vent back.
Important: When using an autonomous heating system, you must first turn off the boiler and stop the supply and return of water from the radiators. Using a special key, gradually open the motherwort of the battery air until return water flows through it. After this, close it and open the water supply and return lines.
If you are unable to open the taps and vents, contact a plumber – he will definitely be able to solve this problem.
How to improve heating in your home
To increase heat transfer, you need to ensure free access of cold air to the radiator, and warm air from it. The first thing to do is free up space near it and remove the decorative panels. Thick curtains covering radiators also reduce heating efficiency.
To distribute warm air throughout the room, we recommend installing a small fan next to the radiator. For example, you can use a cooler from an old computer, installing it under the battery so that the air flow is directed upward.
If the radiators are located in deep niches under the window sill, make slits on the surface of the window sill and cover them with a decorative lattice. This simple manipulation significantly improves convection.
To ensure that the heat goes not to warm the wall, but into the home, attach it behind the radiator reflective screen. This will create some kind of barrier between the warm radiator and the cold wall. To do this, you will need ordinary foil or a layer of insulation with a reflective screen. In addition to all of the above, the surface of the batteries must be regularly cleaned of dust and dirt. It is important to do this at least three to four times a year.
Interesting fact: the darker the color of the battery, the higher temperature in the apartment. Blue, black and brown radiator surfaces have 20–25% better heat transfer compared to light ones. Also find out how to remove greasy deposits and sticky stains in the kitchen.
